My journey

Outreach Officer - Women in Computing

September 2024 - Present

Helping run events for Imperial's Women in Computing committee. Planning outreach for young girls and led a workshop in collaboration with Girls into Coding.

MSc Computing (Software Engineering) - Imperial College London

September 2024 - September 2025

Currently on a year long Master's program in Computing, specialising in Software Engineering.

Software Developer - Dohop

June 2024 - September 2024

Worked on backend features for a travel booking system using Python. Helped improve transparency around pricing and availability, and learned what it means to ship real features as part of a team.

BSc Software Engineering - University of Iceland

August 2022 - June 2024

Graduated with a first class distinction in June 2024. Learned a lot about building software, but also about working with others and tackling tough problems.

The New York City Marathon

November 2023

I trained for and ran the NYC Marathon. It was an incredible experience, both physically and mentally. It taught me a lot about discipline, perseverance, and the power of community.

Exchange semester - The Cooper Union

August 2023 - December 2023

I went on an exchange semester to The Cooper Union in New York City. I completed these modules: Data Visualisation, Engineering Management, Senior Electrical Engineering Project, Programming for Electrical Engineering and Software Project 1 remotely. It was an incredible experience, studying in such an incredible city taught me a lot, both academically and personally. I truly believe that stepping outside your comfort zone is one of the best ways to grow, and New York has been a place I keep coming back to ever since.

Business Central Developer - Origo

June 2023 - April 2024

My first real experience writing production code. Learned how to adapt software to real customer needs and appreciated the complexity behind even simple-looking features.

Board of Ada

September 2022 - May 2024

I sat on the board of Ada, a student association at the University of Iceland. Ada is dedicated to creating a safe space for women and non-binary individuals within the university. They organise events, workshops, and lectures to promote equality and diversity within the field of Computer Science and Software Engineering.

Double Jaw Surgery

October 2022

I had double jaw surgery in the middle of the Fall 2022 semester, which meant I couldn't chew for six weeks while still keeping up with my classes. It wasn't easy, but I got through it and passed everything. Definitely one of those moments that reminded me I can handle more than I think — and that persistence really matters.

Summer Program - Columbia University

July 2022 - August 2022

I had the opportunity to attend Columbia University's summer program, where I studied Data Structures in Java and Corporate Finance. This was a turning point for me — for the first time, I learned the core principles behind how software is built and why certain solutions are more efficient than others. It sparked my curiosity about how to design programs not just to work, but to work well. That's when I realised I wanted to pursue software engineering, to understand and apply the best ways to solve problems through code. So by the end of the summer I decided to switch my major.

BSc Mechanical Engineering - University of Iceland

August 2021

Started my undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Iceland. I wasn't sure which branch of engineering I wanted to pursue yet, but I saw it as a strong foundation to build from.
